When to Get Botox & Filler Before the Holidays
The 2026 timing guide: book Botox 2–4 weeks out, first-time filler 4+ weeks out.
The weeks before Thanksgiving, holiday parties, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve are the busiest of the year for med spas — and the results you want in photos do not happen overnight. Botox and dermal fillers work on very different schedules, so the single most important thing you can do is book at the right time. This guide walks through how each treatment behaves, then gives you a reverse-planning calendar with exact book-by dates for the 2026 season.
Botox: appears in 3–7 days, peaks at ~2 weeks, lasts 3–4 months. Book it 2–4 weeks before your event.
Dermal filler: adds volume immediately, but swelling and any bruising take up to ~2 weeks to settle. Book it 4+ weeks before if it is your first time.
Rule of thumb: whatever the occasion, the filler timeline is the one that sets your booking deadline.
How Botox timing works
Botox and similar neuromodulators (Dysport, Xeomin, Daxxify) do not work instantly. After your appointment the product needs a few days to begin relaxing the targeted muscles — most people notice the first changes in 3 to 7 days. The effect builds gradually and reaches its peak at about two weeks. From there it typically lasts 3 to 4 months before slowly wearing off.
The practical takeaway: two weeks is the minimum lead time so your results have fully set in by the event. If you can, book three to four weeks out. That extra cushion means that if the result comes in slightly asymmetric, there is time for a complimentary touch-up (many providers schedule these around the two-week mark) before you are in front of a camera. How dermal filler timing works
Dermal fillers are the opposite of Botox in one key way: the volume shows up immediately. Walk out of the appointment and your lips or cheeks already look fuller. The catch is that injections can cause temporary swelling, and sometimes bruising, that takes up to two weeks to fully resolve. In the first several days the area can look a little over-filled or uneven as the product settles and the swelling comes down.
Because of that settling window, first-time filler patients should book at least four weeks before a big event. Four weeks gives swelling and bruising plenty of time to disappear and leaves room for a follow-up visit if you want to add or adjust. If you get filler regularly and know how your body responds, you may be comfortable with a shorter runway — but for anything that matters, earlier is safer. Your 2026 holiday reverse-planning calendar
Working backward from each occasion, here is when to book. Botox is shown as a window — the ideal date (four weeks out, with touch-up room) through the latest date that still lets it peak in time (two weeks out). First-time filler uses the four-week rule.
| Holiday event (2026) | Date | Book Botox (ideal – latest) | Book first-time filler by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thanksgiving | Nov 26, 2026 | Oct 29, 2026 – Nov 12, 2026 | By Oct 29, 2026 |
| Holiday party season (mid-December) | Dec 12, 2026 | Nov 14, 2026 – Nov 28, 2026 | By Nov 14, 2026 |
| Christmas | Dec 25, 2026 | Nov 27, 2026 – Dec 11, 2026 | By Nov 27, 2026 |
| New Year's Eve | Dec 31, 2026 | Dec 3, 2026 – Dec 17, 2026 | By Dec 3, 2026 |
For example, if you want to look your best at Thanksgiving on November 26, the latest you should book Botox is around November 12, 2026, and first-time filler by about October 29, 2026. Aiming for New Year’s Eve? Book Botox by roughly December 17, 2026 and first-time filler by December 3, 2026. If a single trip needs to cover several December events, plan around the earliest one.
National Botox Day and the Q4 deal season
National Botox Day is expected to fall on November 20, 2026, as in past years — an annual promotion day created by Allergan, the company behind Botox. It kicks off the busiest stretch of the med-spa calendar. Through the fourth quarter, practices tend to run their best offers of the year: gift-card bonuses, membership and loyalty rewards, and package pricing timed to the holidays. If you were already planning treatment, this is usually the most cost-effective window to book it. See what is running right now on our med spa deals page. Because these weeks are also the most in-demand, the good appointment times go early — reserve as soon as you know your date.
First-timers vs. returning patients
If this is your first time with either treatment, always build in the longer buffer. You do not yet know how your body reacts — how quickly Botox sets in for you, or whether you bruise easily with filler — so the extra week or two of lead time is insurance. Returning patients who know their pattern can plan a little tighter, but even then the two-week Botox peak and the settling window for filler still apply. There is no way to rush the biology; the only lever you control is the booking date.
A quick word on safety
The timelines above are general norms, not medical advice, and everyone heals a little differently. Injectables should be performed by a licensed, qualified provider who evaluates your history and goals in person. Before booking around an event, consult a licensed provider about the right treatment, timing, and any pre-appointment guidance for your situation.
